War Stories

The CODE wardec initiative continues to grow. It seems like we have friends everywhere who have been waiting for something like this to come along and are eager to enlist. Some of them are alts who just want to spend a little happy funtime purging highsec when they aren't occupied by other things, but I don't mind. We're all about spreading the love here in the New Order of Highsec, even alts are welcome. Here are a few more stories from the front.

Mission runners need mining permits too
While mission running may not be specifically mentioned in the Code (more learned scholars than I may know of a passage that I have overlooked), it is unquestionably a filthy bot-aspirant activity. Mission runners obviously need to have a mining permit and be at the keyboard at all times, or they too will be subject to enforcement. The practice of excessively running missions is particularly repugnant - there are actually individuals who will run the same missions over and over, all day every day.

Anyhow, when one of our intelligence operatives reported a war target running missions in a Machariel with the encouraging name "Maserati", we knew that we had to take action. Several of us dropped what we were doing and made our way to the system.

We had the criminal probed down in his mission pocket, and then I, as the fastest tackler in the group with my Slasher, warped in to attempt to catch him. Unfortunately, he was several rooms deep in his mission. As I made my way painfully from acceleration gate to acceleration gate, he noticed me in local and was able to escape and dock up.

Undeterred, we blapped a couple of his mobile tractor units and then left the system, spreading out to cover the other sides of all the exit gates. Sure enough, the target saw that we were no longer in local and figured he was in the clear, so he undocked his Maserati and headed back to his home system of Gekutami.

I was waiting for him on gate and quickly landed point. He foolishly aggressed me with his drones, and I spent a minute shooting them down while orbiting him, until my comrades could arrive and put him out of his misery. The loot fairy was ... unkind. But we still managed at least to recoup our fees for about 4 more weeks of war.

Маленькая корпорация для новичков и не только!
So we wardecced some Russians. The dec was still fresh and we hadn't acted on it yet, so I figured I'd take a look at their home system. Sure enough, there was a Skiff mining in an asteroid belt, and 6 other guys docked up.

I was a little unsure of taking out the skiff solo with a Slasher, and it was too early on a weekday for any of my corpmates to be on. Sure, my sig radius is tiny and I'm fast, but he could potentially have lots of light drones and who knows what his corpmates might bring to the fight if they undock. So in spite of not having the skills to fit T2 light blasters yet, I decided to try my luck with an Incursus. Dual reps, cap boosters, meta ion blasters.

I arrived in system and warped to the belt. where I landed scrams on the Skiff. There was a war target Venture there which I ignored, and he quickly fled the scene. I pounded on the Skiff for five minutes or so, keeping a close eye on short range dscan. He launched a flight of Valkyrie Is, which I killed. I convoed the pilot and offered to let him go for a 100 mil ransom, but he wasn't interested.

A WT Corax landed on grid at 80 km range. I kept an eye on him, but for the moment he held off. A Rifter then landed at 0. I kept point on the Skiff and switched dps to the Rifter. He dented my armor a bit and I repaired it, but soon he was in structure and warped off to save himself. The Corax then approached to close range. I did the same to him, and soon he too was fleeing the belt. Then I turned my attention back to the Skiff.

About the time that he was in low armor, an Oracle warped in. I debated for a moment, then decided to let the Skiff go and get a tight orbit on the tier 3 battlecruiser. In hindsight I think that I could have finished off the Skiff, since the Oracle was at such close range he was unlikely to land a hit anyway. Sadly, the Skiff warped off, but I soon had the Oracle in armor. The Rifter and Corax came back and had another go at me, this time together. The Corax again warped away to save his skin, but the Rifter pilot bravely decided to go down fighting.

As the Oracle was entering structure, Skiff-guy came back with a Navy Scorpion, landing at 15 km range. I weighed my options again, and decided to overheat my guns and take down the battlecruiser.

When he popped I then set a close orbit and scrammed the Scorp. I didn't have any serious thoughts about killing him at the time, but I figured that I had already made a fair trade with an Incursus for a Rifter and Oracle, so I might as well stick around and see what could happen. The Scorpion did not launch any drones and his missiles proved ineffective against me, although I quite enjoyed the satisfying thump when they went off. Surprisingly soon he was in low shields and I began to believe a little bit.

That was when their entire corp arrived. In addition to the Navy Scorpion, there was a Navy Vexor, the Corax, a Thrasher, and some random guy in a shuttle who apparently didn't have a PvP ship but wanted to watch the fight.

I knew then that I wasn't getting the Scorpion, so I switched targets to the Navy Vexor. I tore through his shields and dug deep into his armor, but my two reppers and cap booster were cycling nonstop to deal with the incoming damage. After a few minutes I ran out of cap booster charges and was forced to disengage in 80% structure. I gave them a 'gf' in local and ran off to resupply.

That's all for today! The Code always wins!

AAR: Raid on Biki

Those of you who keep track of me know that a couple weeks ago I launched a new project- building an official New Order wardec corporation within CODE. alliance. Since it's creation two years ago, CODE. has focused almost exclusively on suicide ganking. It has done so with great success, ultimately becoming the most successful ganking organization in the history of eve. This did not happen overnight. It took a long term effort from a lot of determined, creative individuals.

But suicide ganking is not the only tool that we have at our disposal to create emergent content in highsec. We still have corp infiltration, at least for the next month or two, and we also have my personal favorite- wardecs. Independent agents and small corps have been using war declarations to enforce the Code since before there was a Code, but until now there has never been an official New Order wardec corporation.

So I started one. We've been gaining traction steadily and have recruited a few legendary highsec PvPers, and now we have started killing things. We've seen a lot of action over the last few days, and more is coming. I've been so busy hunting targets that I haven't had the time to write about it yet, so I figured that today at work I would pen a small report about the events of last night. It's a story of pew - not legendary pew, no kills that would be featured on TMC, nothing world changing - just some typical shenanigans that I got up to when I took an hour to log in and do a little casual bear hunting. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

SEVEN OF NINE INC.
I found these guys the other day when I saw the need for a few additional targets to keep the kills coming and make sure that my members had enough fun things to do. I don't even remember exactly how I chose them. Sometimes I get tips, sometimes I use third party fan sites to research possible targets, sometimes I cruise the belts looking to see who is out there mining without permits. Sometimes I wardec people who mouth off in the forums. In any case, I found these guys a few days ago and decided they made good targets, so I wardecced them.

We have a dozen or so wars going currently, and almost all of them have a positive war record. None of our wars has a negative record, but a few have 0 kills. This was one of those. So when I logged on for a quick session and saw that their CEO, CAPTAIN CRIMSON HAWK, was online, I passed his name on to our intel people to get a locator run, which turned him up in a backwater of Domain called Bika.

I hopped in my Practically Invincible Slasher (of justice!) and hopped over there to check things out.

Surprise attack
As I approached the system, the intel folks reported several corp members moving around in space within a few jumps of Bika. An Apocalypse was sighted in an asteroid belt, apparently mining (!), but unfortunately retreated to the corp POS and dropped his ship off before I could arrive.

When I jumped into the system, only two corp members were present- one docked and the other mining Jaspet in an ore anomaly with his Retriever. I warped to the Retty, orbited him at 500 and destroyed him with Republic Fleet EMP S. He never launched his drones or attempted to either defend himself or escape.

Knowing that he had corpmates nearby, I kept a close eye on local and dscan. Sure enough, less than a minute after the battle local spiked from two reds to seven. About half of them went directly to the station and docked, while the other half went directly to their POS and called me out in local from the safety of their POS shields.

The rebel forces mobilize
During all this, I was chatting with my corpmates and two of them were on the way to assist me, but they were still quite far out, so I decided to see what I could do solo in my Slasher. I warped to the station, targeted the Tristan and set a close orbit, but did not engage. He attacked and I noted with approval that he couldn't scratch my formidable speed/sig radius tank.

A Coercer landed on grid and I orbited it at 7500, taking little to no incoming damage. A Brutix, a Harby and a Rifter joined the attack, and my shields were soon stripped away. My armor slowly sagged under the pressure of all those glancing blows. Still I flew circles around them. After 5-10 minutes of this, I was close to structure, so I docked up.

The next round, I decided to try a different approach. I undocked and flew directly out from the station, activating my afterburner. Only the Rifter was able to keep up, so I drew him 40 km or so from his comrades and blew him up, then slew his pod. I then warped off to the sun, thinking to shake off my aggro timer and return to station. When I landed, I found an AFK wartarget in a Heron on grid. I killed him and his pod too, then went back.

CODE reinforcements arrive
I continued to tease my wartargets on the station while my two colleagues made their way to Bika. Signs of frustration on the part of the rebels began to show. Several of them made a show of marching off in a huff with their Procurers to mine (since Code could apparently only field one noob in a Slasher and they weren't scared).

Just when my backup, Agents Lexa Hellfury and the musteg landed on the in-gate, the enemy forces on the station undock had dwindled back to just the one guy in his Tristan. I advised them to standby and made a quick tour of the system.

I quickly discovered the rebel mining operation in an asteroid belt - two Procurers, an Apocalypse, a Brutix, and assorted frigates and destroyers. They were defiantly mining without permits right under the nose of an Agent, and had to be destroyed.

Looking at the buzzing swarm of light drones surrounding their fleet I committed my soul to James 315 and attacked. Urging my comrades to jump and warp to me, I tackled the most valuable ship in range and tried my best to dodge and weave and survive as long as I could.

I went down in flames as musteg and Lexa arrived in a Caracal and a Keres. They quickly dominated the battlefield, and I was able to re ship to a Reaper, fit a warp scrambler to it, and return to help them destroy the rebel battleship. Once again, the New Order defeated the enemies of highsec and saved the day.

The aftermath
As we proceeded to loot the wrecks, the rebel CEO, CAPTAIN CRIMSON HAWK, showed an unexpected streak of "Gallantry" and congratulated us in local.

He even generously offered to reimburse all losses on both sides. Unsure if he was serious, I posted my Slasher loss and soon found my wallet blinking with a 6 million isk donation. I, too, am generous to a fault, and so I offered to reduce the price of his first mining permit by 6 million isk as an award for his good sportsmanship. Unfortunately for him, he declined.

The Dark Arts - Starbase Theft

The usual disclaimer: I make no claim to be an expert on this or any subject. I'm just a 3 year old permanoob-at-heart exploring the dark side of EVE and sharing some of my experiences and lessons learned.

It's been awhile since I have written one of these guides, or blogged at all, in fact. I just came back to the game after a few months off, sold my PvP main and rolled a new character for a fresh start in the game. After 4 days in the game my new main character was able to steal a player owned starbase (POS) and everything in it, to the tune of about 1.2 billion isk. It was a new experience for me and I made a few mistakes, so I figured I would write up a step-by-step guide for anyone else looking to steal POSes for fun and profit.

Target Selection
There are a few different ways that you can go with this. The most lucrative targets are likely going to be established wormhole corporations. Wormhole corporations by necessity keep most of their ships and assets at their POSes. However, if they are even slightly competent they will know better than to give full POS roles to brand new members. This doesn't mean that it is impossible, it's just a question of how much time and effort you are willing to invest.

Terrible new wormhole corporations are certainly very likely targets. If they have inadequate leadership or are very new at living in holes they may be inclined to give out roles easily. The primary challenge for younger POS thieves in this situation might be moving stolen ships out of the hole.

Another likely target is small highsec industrial corporations. Recent changes to industrial mechanics have resulted in these terrible, nearly universally incompetent corporations throwing up POSes left and right. Try to find a relatively young one with an inexperienced CEO. If they don't ask you for an API key when you apply, then there is a good chance they will be lax about assigning roles as well. These corporations are likely to be much faster and easier to infiltrate, but likely less profitable as well.

Gaining Trust
Again, there are lots of ways that you can play this. The key is to immerse yourself in your character and do all the things they would expect you to do. If it is a mining corp, then mine. If it is a PVE corp, then PVE. No matter how torturous these activities may seem, keep in mind that they are a means to obtain your goal - being assigned roles.

The next step is to identify what your corporation needs in a new member and mold yourself into exactly that. An easy one is to offer to be a fleet commander. Most small EVE corps are desperate for FCs - anyone who steps up to that role is likely to quickly earn the trust of his directors. Make yourself indispensable and then make your case.

In my case, I joined a highsec mining corp, took note that they had no mining fleets scheduled on the calendar, and offered to be that guy. I sent off a mail to the CEO to the tune of, "Gee boss, my long term goal in this game is to be an FC. I know I'm new here and don't want to step on any toes, but would it be ok if I led a weekly mining fleet on Sundays and gave the ore to the corp?"

I quickly got a "hell yes!" and then pushed it a little further. "Great boss, I just need a few roles to make this work..." Within a few hours I was all set.

Roles and Skills
In order to take the tower and modules themselves, you need the role Config Starbase Equipment. You may also need Hangar Access to loot any Corporate Hangar Arrays that may be online at the POS. If you can't get those roles, another possibility is to get Starbase Fuel Technician, which will allow you to empty the fuel from the bay and cause the shields to go down, allowing you to destroy the POS modules for their loot drops. Beware doing this while other members with POS roles are online, though, as they will get a notification that the tower is low on fuel.

Don't forget to ask for any other roles that you might need to keep your backstory straight. I asked for Communications Officer, for example, so that I could put my scheduled fleets on the calendar. I also hinted that corp roles can be confusing and that maybe they should just give me the Director role to keep things simple. Unfortunately, they didn't go that far. There are a whole host of fascinating things that can be done with a director role.

As for skills, I found out the hard way that in order to unanchor the POS and it's structures, you will need to have Anchoring trained at least to 1. You will also need to be able to fly some sort of industrial ship with your in-corp character, and having a friend or an alt with an Orca or Freighter to haul away bulky fuel, arrays, and other cargo will be of great help as well.

The Heist
The best time for this is when you are the only person in corp who is online. If that isn't possible, try to do it when nobody else with POS roles is around, and they are all otherwise occupied or afk. Most of this can be done with other members online without necessarily alerting them, but bear in mind that it will take some time to complete the heist.

If you have corp hangar arrays, SMAs or silos that you wish to loot, make sure to bring one or more Enormous Freight Containers. Launch them close to where you will need them and loot all structures first. Ships inside of Ship Maintenance Arrays can be ejected and flown to a station or other secure location.

Your first step should be looting all arrays inside the shields, then offlining them.  Then make sure to unanchor all arrays before you proceed - you will not be able to do this once the tower is offline. Next, offline the control tower itself and loot its fuel and strontium bays. Then immediately unanchor the tower - this is the slowest part of the process and may take up to an hour to complete.

While the tower is unanchoring, the shields will go down and any assistants or alts you may have can  enter the area. Begin making off with the loot and scooping modules to your cargo holds and dropping them wherever you want them. Be aware that out-of corp haulers used for this in highsec will incur a suspect flag, making them legal targets for everybody.

Once the tower is offline, scoop it up and steal that too. Then the final step, anchor a mobile depot named with a message to taunt your corpmates when they warp to their POS and find it utterly disappeared. I executed my heist, for example, on the eve of my CEOs birthday. I had promised him a birthday surprise, so I named my depot "Happy Birthday from the Belligerent Undesirables!"

Happy birthday from the Belligerent Undesirables!
The Aftermath
It's a safe bet to assume that at this point your time in your chosen corp is likely to be limited, so you might as well take anything else that you can. If you have access to the corp wallet or hangars then empty them. If they left shares in their wallet, take those too, and then go to your corp screen. If you have a director role and control all the shares then you can force a vote for CEO and steal the corporation itself.

Once you have stolen everything that isn't nailed down, the next logical step is to hop in a combat ship and go on safari. Use the map (f10) to find "corp members in space" in the information folder, and go and kill anyone else who might be online, and/or hold them for ransom. There are plenty of great safari guides out there, so I won't get into too much detail about that.

Suffice it to say that unless you have successfully executed a hostile takeover, at some point you will be booted from the corporation. Then you go find another one, rinse repeat.

Conclusions
POS theft is hilarious good fun for all ages. It's another way of enjoying the general theme of corporate infiltration, which is a cherished part of sandbox gameplay in EVE online. As has been said before, and will be said again, EVE is one of the few games where you are encouraged to "Be the Villain".

Many forms of villainy might require more SP or connections, but this one is very newbie friendly. The only challenge for new players may be physically hauling away large quantities of loot without a freighter or Orca, which is easily dealt with if you have friends. The character that I used for my theft was only 4 days old, invested less than 3 million isk getting set up for this, and profited well over a billion. In fact, he is still in corp and may make even more isk from loot and ransoms before this is over.

As always, get out there and steal and murder - play EVE the way it was meant to be played.

Retiring my PvP main

This is me shamelessly using my blog to advertise my character sale. I'm selling off my main, Kalim Dabo. Most of this blog has been about him. He's a pretty well rounded PvP pilot with some extra skills, like probing and mining.

Kalim has been my main since I started playing. However, I basically only use him to fly T1 frigates, so I don't really need most of his SP.

Some time ago, as regular readers will recall, I started a new character as an experiment, to see how feasible it would be to solo wardec people with a 1 week old newbie character. I found that I was actually very successful There are certain advantages in highsec piracy that come from having a very young character with a clean history and API, and it doesn't take long to train back up to fly an Incursus or something very well, which is all I was doing with Kalim anyway.

So I'm going to get a fresh start, with enough isk to keep me in frigates and pay wardec fees for some time to come. If you are interested, check out the advert at forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5045379#post5045379

Victory in Everyshore

Celebrating the liberation of Everyshore from rebel forces
Immediately following the Battle of Bereye, the wars between my enemies, Lunar Shadow Mining and Freight, and my allies, Molestation Nation and Gypsy Queens went live. I noted that Gypsy Queens had immediate success taking out a faction fit Megathron Navy Issue before opting to end the war early for reasons of their own.

Later that evening I was able to log on and inspect the belts of Bereye. I noted with some disappointment that one of their pilots, Vaatia915, was mining illegally in a Venture. I made an attempt to kill him and failed, as he was, to his credit, aware of his surroundings and warped out as I arrived at the belt. A certain amount of cat-and-mouse style maneuvering ensued. After a few moments, Vaatia re-appeared and engaged me in single combat with a Merlin. Again I was impressed with his courage. Of course, I won. As everyone knows by now, Code agents literally cannot be defeated in battle, so the result was a foregone conclusion. Still, he tried, and that definitely counts for something.

As I was fighting Vaatia, one of his corpmates showed up in a shuttle, perhaps merely to spectate, and was also subsequently destroyed. After that I found that everyone was docked up. Despite my distaste for station camping, I redeployed my reinforced mobile depot and then sat for a few moments on the undock in my Navy Hurricane while I sized up the situation. There was a lot of coming and going in shuttles that I couldn't make sense of. At one point a LSMF pilot undocked in a Mammoth and I destroyed it in two volleys.

The Second Battle of Bereye

At that point I received a convo from my ally, Scorpion Venom1 of Molestation Nation.

[ 2014.06.14 00:26:58 ] Scorpion Venom1 > hello
[ 2014.06.14 00:26:58 ] Kalim Dabo > o/
[ 2014.06.14 00:27:05 ] Scorpion Venom1 > playing with them already?
[ 2014.06.14 00:27:20 ] Kalim Dabo > yeah, i had to
[ 2014.06.14 00:27:25 ] Scorpion Venom1 > lol
[ 2014.06.14 00:27:31 ] Scorpion Venom1 > i have my alt there
[ 2014.06.14 00:27:43 ] Kalim Dabo > cool
[ 2014.06.14 00:27:58 ] Scorpion Venom1 > mind letting me take over for a while?
[ 2014.06.14 00:28:07 ] Kalim Dabo > sure, go ahead
[ 2014.06.14 00:28:11 ] Scorpion Venom1 > ♥

As everyone knows, I am kind to a fault, and always willing to help a friend. So I left the system and let Scorpion take over the war while I worked on my last blog post. He doesn't know this yet, but I kept a cloaky alt in the system, and happened to alt-tab over to check what was happening just as the second Battle of Bereye began.

Scorpion was monitoring the undock of LSMF HQ in a Megathron and chatting with their members in local when Ryan Hiri undocked in a Vexor. He quickly came under fire, but then a second Vexor undocked, and a Catalyst, and two Drakes. Ryan Hiri died in a ball of fire, then one of the Drakes quickly followed suit. The other Drake was tanked like a brick and absorbed volley after volley. Scorpion cycled his microwarpdrive and rammed it off the station undock to prevent it from de-aggressing and seeking refuge in station, then burned it to the ground. The second Vexor and Catalyst died soon after. Vaatia915 decided to wear his balls on the outside that day and reshipped to a second Catalyst, and died again, but did so with unquestionable honor. Again the invincibility of Agents of the Code was proved on the field of battle.

After the battle, Molestation Nation also caught a deadspace fit Rattlesnake in neighboring Aice, apparently running missions afk, resulting in the most valuable kill of the war.

Efforts at diplomacy
I figured at this point that LSMF had maybe had enough and were willing to seek an end to the conflict. I actually had been remarkably impressed by their willingness to undock and fight time after time in spite of crippling losses, and sensed a great potential in them to rise beyond their bot-aspirant origins. And so I reached out to their CEO of the moment, Aeris Nardieu, presumably the alt of the founder, Kirisaku Nardieu, who had recently dropped corp.

Mr. Nardieu,

War fees for the next week are due tomorrow. As I have said, I intend to continue the conflict until your corporation achieves 100% Code-compliance. There are two ways that you could go about this.

1. You purchase mining permits for your entire corporation at a rate of 10 million isk per member. Since you have lost a number of members, your total currently stands at 460 million isk. You would also have to agree to obey all other provisions of the Code while in highsec and to educate your members to do the same. Again, you can read the full text of the Code at www.minerbumping.com

2. You agree to leave highsec. The Code only applies to those who live in New Order space. If you decide to remove your corporation from highsec in the immediate future, I will respect that decision and end hostilities.

Failure to choose one of these two options will result in the inevitable destruction of your corporation. I will continue to bloody your members until one by one they walk away and join other corporations. I have all the skill and patience required to make sure that this happens.

On a positive note, I have been impressed somewhat by the fighting spirit of your members. They show potential to become great EVE players. In light of this, I am willing to negotiate somewhat on the mining permit fees, if you are willing to contact me and discuss the matter.

Have a lovely day,

Code Agent Kalim Dabo

The "powerful friends in null sec"
Shortly before I wardecced LSMF, I noticed an interesting thread on the official EVE Online forums, in New Citizens Q&A. The gist of the OP was that a semi-new character was butthurt about all the perceived "griefing" that was going on in high sec, and he felt that there should be "instances" in which a player could complete a mission or other PVE situation without random jagoffs being able to interfere or attempt to blap him. He was trying to sell that blatant pro-carebear-propaganda as if it were advice for new players. When a long line of people showed up to explain that the issues that he had with EVE were exactly the things that make this MMO unique and special, he dismissed everybody as trolls.

For that I wardecced his corporation, called "Armilies corporation [ARMIL]" more to make a statement than out of any actual inclination to hunt him down. My playtime, after all, is limited.

Anyway, while my war with LSMF was going on, I started to receive correspondence from the CEO of ARMIL. It seemed that he had assumed the mantle of white-knight and was out to save LSMF.

Dear Kalim Dabo

To: Armilies corporation, Kalim Dabo,  Vaatia915,

Almost full week has now passed since you wardecced my corporation, presumingly in error believing we would be small high sec corporation afraid to engage an older character with with just scary image and supposingly impressive killboard.

I have to admit that at very first I was expecting serious fights, and I told my members to prepare, read your blog and study your killboard, never to fly alone but then, after almost week, what have you thrown at us? Nothing.

You are not taking this offender part in our war very seriously and I dont think it is merely the distance between us. You have been very active in your war against Lunar Shadow Mining And Freight and sadly it has been our fleets that have been forced to jump the horrid 20+ systems looking for fight. In last 3 days we have been sitting at Bereye I have found you sadly absent. it appears as of very late you have only appeared to stroke your monument of "heroic battle" every time after we have shot it to reinforce.

The fact that you wardecced me and made me do all that work and preparations for nothing was insulting enough, but now that I have been reading your blog and following your doings, I have thruly become motivated to work against you. In addition I have made certain entities aware of your doings and especially aware of the troubles you have caused to LSMF. I have already ensured that Lunar shadow will recieve proper protection from the likes of you and have invited this young, promising corp closer to our territorial space in amarr low sec.

My decision power in the alliance which I am associated with is next to none at best - but would I have decision power in my hands, I would have had your ass wardecced by the entirety of it long ago - not because of you deccing us, but because what you have done to LSMF.

Our war still has few good hours left before it will end. I will request permission from my superiors to declear it mutual or have a right to help Lunar shadow's war effort through their request of assist. Whatever way this goes, I will make sure LSMF does not have to agree to anything you say anymore. I will make them realize how irrelavant little imp you are compared to real demons that dwell deep in the low sec and null.

I will give them chance that everyone deserves to have. Armilies was once in same position as Lunar shadows, and we were given chance by the groups we work with these days.

I strongly advice to leave you LSMF alone, but then again, I doupt you ego will allow that. I repeat what I have told you several times now. We're at war. Contribute to the war you started, or do not wardec at all. I have seen already through that image you attempt to keep and behind that mask is nothing impressive. I hope you get my point.

Ro.
CEO of Armilies corporation.

Be careful, Ro! You are treading dangerously close to violating the New Halaima Code of Conduct. Needless to say, the consequences of that can be dire. I was just going to let our war expire, since I only declared it to troll one of your members on the forums, but now I think honor dictates that I continue it.

Shortly after:

Mister Kalim.

Your sense of honor is very twisted at best, but I again repeat this. I would very much appriciate it if at least some point during our war you could put up some sort of fight. I have been so very deeply disappointed at your previous lack of effort. Do you understand what I say? If you wardecced us just to troll our member, then I must say that was rather big failure on your part. Perhaps proper background check would had been wise thing to do? What did you expect to happen?

I have not read the New Halaima Code of Conduct, but I believe it does not apply in low sec or null, especially in sov space that we own. If you can, could you please show on paper where did evil Ro violate your code?

In meantime while you ponder if to or if not to wardec me again, I shall tell you that our fleet is going fly into Bereye today. We're going to take the LSMF members that are willing to join us into fleet and then we go practice a little bit. Either with you or if you do not show up, somewhere in low sec, where you can find actual PVP. Depending on their preference, I will also intorduce them to some of our blues, and see if they can be added blue as well - overall I expect quite eventful night to us, more so than previous nights to be honest.

You are silly person Kalim. Tell exactly what are you going to threaten me with? perhaps.. PVP? That would be the first. x)

Ro, your best friend.

Unfortunately, I was at work during all this, and unable to demonstrate to his "fleet" what an Agent of the New Order is capable of in PvP. When I returned I found another wordy missive in my inbox.

Well, mister Kalim.

I was very sad not to see you around this evening in Bereye. We had wonderful 10 man fleet with the Lunar shadow and I took the baby piranhas into nearby low sec. Unfortunately 10 people popping simultaniously into local tends to discourage most people from engaging in any PVP activity with your fleet, so we missed any kills - unless you can count giant secure container on asteroid belts as one,

The fleet was more of a symbolic gesture from our side to show those remaining LSMF members that they are not alone anymore, that there are people who who see new, young capsuleers as potential future members for alliance. I am willing to sacrifice my time to help these beaten up souls and my superiors are in agreement with my actions. It is not what these people are now, but what they will be some day.

Almost exactly six months ago I was brought before my current masters, afraid, confused, angry. I had been through the same process as lunar Shadow, only that our corporation was way smaller from begin with. I had reached a point in eve where it seemed there was nothing I could do in high sec without being attacked and I asked how I fight this? Who are these people who want to kill you for no other reason that they can? Why I was targeted for such harrasment? As I have grown as character, I have since begin to understand. That was a silly question from begin with. I have been in point where I did not understand, and because of it I can completely symphatize with LSMF and its members. While I understand, Kalim, why you do what you do, I certainly do not agree with your actions or motives.

I presented the current CEO, Vaatia915 to my superiors and his attitude made good impression to our leadership. I have been assigned to aid Lunar shadows in their early ventures to EVE and help them both learn and grow with our support.

Vaatia is right now very young, but given time he may grow into fine character and great leader. One thing is certain. His attitude and "not giving up" mentality is same level as mine and I really like this little fellow.

Since you have that nice blog you are writing, and you absolutely must reach a conclusion that appears like you archieved something - thing which I believe is your biggest concern. "How do I get out of this and make it look like I won?" -I can tell you this.

In near future I doupt LSMF will be mining in high sec. They will be mining with us in low and null. This is no part your doing though, but go ahead and claim it as your victory.

Our war will end in few moments. Since you have been quite silent and propably do not have time to reply to this before timer runs out, I will not declear the war mutual. However, I believe I can still at any point join the "fighting" by offering assistance to LSMF should you continue to harrass them.

There will be no payments, no ransoms, no other terms. Leave these guys alone and I will let this be.

I shall tell about this to no-one else than people who already know about it, and I suppose you get to keep your image relatively intact.

Have a nice evening, Kalim.

RO.

What I took away from this was mainly that Ro was an individual who, without actually belonging to any nullsec alliance, loved to threaten the wrath of his powerful nullsec alliance, which of course he couldn't even name. Then, of course, I read between the lines and saw that LSMF seemed to be contemplating a move out of highsec. Obviously, this was an excellent outcome - what better victory for the Code than encouraging a group of new players to seek out their own story in lawless space? However, I was somewhat skeptical of the source. I forwarded Ro and Vaatia (who had become CEO, as Aeris/Kirisaku had dropped out) the mail which I had sent to the previous CEOs of LSMF outlining my terms. Vaatia was the first to reply.

Dearest Kalim,

If you wish to see this as a victory, go ahead. However, I regret to inform you that the move from highsec will not take place in the very near future. We have been invited to Nullsec Alliance and I have every intention of accepting their kind offer. But that doesn't mean we will never see each other again. I still want to come back and shove my railgun up your ass someday :) (not in a sexual way; that would be weird...).

So, in conclusion. Farewell, for now, my sweet prince. But, don't you forget us. You've made a new enemy, and its always the little ones that grow up to be big and strong.

Love,

P.S. My bounty is bigger than yours *Giggity*

Again, things were moving in the right direction. However, I felt obligated to remind them that as long as they remained in high sec they would need to comply with the Code, and since they hadn't agreed to that, the war would need to continue. Soon I heard Ro's reaction.

Reaching conclusion.

*Sigh*

To sum up the current situation here is the lastest:
-Lunar shadow has been brought in front our alliance leadership and they have agreed for long term plan to begin transforming this young corporation into null corp.

-To do the previous, LSMF will be required to increase their skills, for right now these fellows are not even past the basics.

-I will be helping these people to archieve the previously mentioned requirement.

-LSMF has been invited to 1 jump away from our territorial space and I have requested the local pirate groups in nearby low sec systems to also add these young players as blue to their list. Since I do not have authority over these groups, the nearby regions will be safe to them in varying decree.

-Lunar Shadow will still LIVE in high sec due to obvious reasons, but this is only to allow them to learn the game, do missions, buy stuff from trade hubs, etc etc.

-They will be MINING in low sec and later in null with our "aggressive" mining fleets and since I believe the mining in high sec part is what violates your "code" - these people are not doing anything wrong even by your books.

I am not sure was there writing error in Vaatia's post, but we shall see. This is the course of action I have proposed for the LSMF.

If you keep aggressing these fellows, I will simply keep responding. Now that they are closer to us, im sure they can quickly relocate themselves under our protection every time you come close to them and we dont have to make that horrid 20 jumps to reach them.

If your claim about CODE is true, that you only wish to "help" and "improve" players, you will let us take care of them from this day forth. You can go find yourself next corp to bully.

Ro.
*TITLES TITLES*

This fellow seemed amusingly sure of the efficacy of his "protection" of LSMF for someone who wouldn't even name the alliance he allegedly belonged to. I actually was tempted to continue the war just to see if he had any actual teeth at all, or was just another loudmouthed carebear threatening the wrath of "his powerful friends in null sec", as I still suspect. However, Ro Fenrios was in no actual position to negotiate on behalf of LSMF, and I soon reached a breakthrough with Vaatia915

I am impressed with the progress made. However, all highsec systems remain subject to the Code, and so the war will continue until I am satisfied that my terms have been met. Since your corp is not actually a part of any nullsec alliance, nor have you mentioned which alliance you are allegedly affiliated with, everything you say about the matter is obviously going to be met with a degree of skepticism.

However, I am willing to consider that you may actually be serious, so I will consider agreeing to a ceasefire if Vaatia will agree to confine all mining activities to lowsec, null, or wormholes, unless the pilots involved have valid permits and respect the Code.

As a former CEO of a newbie friendly nullsec corporation, I can attest to the fact that there is no reason for LSMF to wait to leave highsec. I myself used to recruit new players on trial accounts and have them pod-jump directly out to Curse and start joining PvP fleets. It can be done. Indeed, nullsec alliances which do this - Goonswarm Federation, TEST, and Brave, have the highest rates of new player retention in the game. Incidentally, when last I checked, Brave is open to new corporations.

Victory!

Having reached a diplomatic solution, I accepted the surrender of Lunar Shadow Mining and Freight. Soon after I was hailed by their original CEO, Kirisaku Nardieu.

If all goes according to plan, Lunar Shadow Mining and Freight will hold true to their treaty with the New Order and cease all Code violating activities in highsec, soon making the final move to a as-yet-nameless nullsec alliance. Their former CEO even wisely bent the knee and bought himself a mining permit for one year, which he proudly displays in his bio.

Of course, I will be carefully monitoring the situation to make sure that LSMF doesn't fall back into their criminal ways, but for now I am calling this a total victory for the Code. Later this evening I will parade back to the Forge in glory in my Stabber, waving to the adoring crowds which no doubt will be waiting to see me pass by, and then I will begin scouting the next rebel organization on my list.

The Battle of Bereye

Last night after declaring war on Lunar Shadow Mining and Freight, I logged off and waited for the news to settle in for my targets. It wasn't long before a new thread popped up on reddit, titled "Who wants to fight CORE?(sic)" It was my war-targets, begging for allies. They got a lot of sympathy from the r/EVE crowd, as you might expect. They did not, however, manage to find anyone willing to go to war to defend their perceived right to mine without permits in New Order space.

This morning, as the wardec was about to go live, I went to Bereye to make some bookmarks and generally get ready, and I saw their Lieutenant CEO had even resorted to begging the randoms in local to ally with him, to no avail.

On my side of things, however, I noted that two additional corporations had wardecced LSMF. One was Molestation Nation, another small but highly effective New Order affiliated wardec corp. The other was Gypsy Queens, which I'm not familiar with, but their war record speaks for itself. Both wardecs go live today, but I got to have the first crack at these desperate rebels.

Opening Skirmishes
I logged in yesterday evening in the system of Aice and saw one wartarget in local. I quickly was able to narrow down his position orbiting a station at 100km range, evidently afk. The Slicer that I had been using to make bookmarks with seemed well suited to the task, so I attacked, orbiting at 20km range and zapping him with Scorch, keeping out of blaster range on the off chance that he might return to the keyboard. He did not, and his pod was quickly destroyed after his ship.

I then moved on to Bereye. There were several wartargets docked up. I observed as some of them undocked and moved around, and chased one Catalyst for a few jumps before giving it up. I noted, with some approval, that their newbies all seemed to be flying destroyers. I swapped my Slicer for a Police Persuut Comet, and named it "Code Enforcement".

Soon after, I managed to catch a Catalyst out alone. I figured he would be blaster fit and tried to kite out at the edge of scram range, but he surprised me with rails and I took a few good volleys before my ECM drones broke his lock. Then I quickly finished him off. His pod got away.

I continued to patrol the area. LSMF bunkered down in their home system. One pilot was missing, Ryan Hiri. I soon found him in Aice, mining with a Venture. I fired a warning shot across his bow as he warped to the safety of a station.

Battle Lines Drawn
Ryan Hiri fled back to Bereye where his comrades were waiting. I followed and orbited their station at 100km, congratulating them in local on not illegally mining, for once.

[ 2014.06.13 00:14:10 ] Kalim Dabo > good to see all of you obeying the Code today :D
[ 2014.06.13 00:14:17 ] Ryan Hiri > LOL

[ 2014.06.13 00:19:27 ] Sebastian Voss > Hows it going Ryan?
[ 2014.06.13 00:19:57 ] Ryan Hiri > Good just Kalim followed me and almost got wreckde

Soon a Talwar undocked. I waited to see if he would approach, but he stayed on the undock. Then a Drake undocked, then a Catalyst. I usually try to spread out my foes and kill them with a frigate in these situations, but they weren't budging. The inklings of a plan began to come together in my mind.

I warped in and docked at their station, then undocked again. As I had suspected they would, they all attacked me. It was at this point I made use of the mystical force of aggro timers, whose mastery is only given to those who are strong in the Code. I docked without engaging, and switched to my Hurricane Fleet Issue, then undocked and attacked. Their aggro timers prevented them from docking again, and I soon burned down the entire LSMF fleet in a hail of autocannon fire, then crushed a number of their eggs as they beat themselves against the walls of the station, unable to find refuge. I lost track of how many ships I destroyed. There was a Drake and a Myrmidon, a Merlin and several destroyers.

[ 2014.06.13 00:33:42 ] Kalim Dabo > Ryan Hiri that was awesome, no?

[ 2014.06.13 00:33:57 ] Kalim Dabo > :D
[ 2014.06.13 00:34:00 ] Kalim Dabo > love the booms

I figured the battle was won. I gave the handful of remaining LSMF pilots in local a "gf", then looted the wrecks and even salvaged them. I was feeling pretty good about the war so far, and even gave myself a medal. A few more wartargets drifted in from wherever they had left their clones and docked up, as I sat on the undock in my Comet and chatted with them in local.

Suddenly, two of them undocked and attacked me, with a Vexor and a Thorax. I saw destroyers undocking. Then a remarkable thing happened. I docked up, jumped in my Navy Cane, undocked and destroyed their entire fleet again. Here's a link to the battle report.

This time, my conquest of Bereye was final. The remaining rebels fled the system in rookie ships and shuttles. To commemorate the battle I anchored a mobile depot off their station and named it "Site of the Battle of Bereye, where Code Agent Kalim Dabo heroically defeated a rebel armada."

The Next Stage
Today our allies in Molestation Nation will enter the conflict, and I have no doubt that the pressure on LSMF will be dramatically increased.

My mind fuckery/espionage operations continue to progress. They identified one of my informants and booted him, but I have one more solid agent in their ranks, and two LSMF members have approached me and offered their services as spies. It remains to be seen whether they plan to help me or draw me into a trap, but they have been advised what I'm looking for and what rewards they can expect for delivering it.

I am looking forward to the next battle, and the next. I do not expect a quick or easy campaign, but I know that victory will be mine, because I have the Code on my side.
